Munster Rugby is a globally recognised professional rugby club, known for its history, tradition, and spirit - but our real strength lies in belonging. Rooted in community, carried by our legendary supporters, and built on pride, resilience, and courage, our legacy is more than rugby alone. Sustainability is an extension of that legacy: protecting what we’ve inherited, standing together with our communities, and ensuring the character that defines Munster - connection, courage, and solidarity - carries forward for generations to come.

Our Sustainability Approach

We don’t claim to have all the answers, and our learning in-house is still very much a work in progress. Sustainability isn’t an add-on - it’s part of how we make decisions, plan for the future, and show up for our communities. Our goal is simple: to keep developing the sport we love in the places we love, while delivering positive environmental and social impact locally.

Maximise Our Impact

With a large public profile comes responsibility. Sport has the power to inspire and mobilise, and we aim to lead by example and use our influence in a genuine way to bring others with us. That’s the core of our “Maximise Our Impact” game plan - action-focussed, science-led, grounded in data and transparency, built on collaboration and collective knowledge-sharing, and inspiring change through visible action. Central to everything we do is using our own language, making sustainability local and relatable. For us, Climate Action is a Team Sport - we ATTACK the emissions and DEFEND against the impacts of climate change, a concept everyone can understand, connect to, and carry into their lives, communities, and rugby.

The Journey

Like sport itself, this is a journey: there are setbacks and comebacks, wins and losses. We embrace the messy middle - the challenges, learning moments, and imperfect action - because what matters most is how we show up, with honesty, effort, and teamwork. And just as in rugby, no one gets left behind: connection, fairness, and solidarity are what make real change possible.
